2012 NFL Draft: Browns Blogger Reactions To 1st Round Picks

One thing's for sure, the Browns moves in Thursday night's first round sparked plenty of discussion -- not only among Browns fans, but around the entire league. Tom Heckert got his man at the top of the first round, when he made a trade with the Minnesota Vikings to move up to No. 3 to select Trent Richardson. The Alabama running back is predicted to have the most immediate impact next season. Here's what Mocking The Draft's Dan Kadar had to say about the selection:

Richardson gives the listless Browns offense an identity and a sure weapon. The AFC North is a rough and tumble division. Without Peyton Hillis, the Browns didn't have a player who could hit back on offense. With Richardson, they now have one.

Then there was the No. 22 pick, which will almost certainly usher in a new era at quarterback with 28 year old Brandon Weeden taking snaps from Alex Mack. The Weeden selection was not well received by most Browns fans, but Dawgs By Nature's Chris Pokorny found it intriguing, and thinks the front office regime may have staked their legacies on this pick:

There are a lot of ifs in this pick, which will undoubtedly make it the most important pick of the Holmgren/Heckert regime. It will make or break their "legacy" in Cleveland. Here is to hoping that Weeden turns out to be the league's next kick-ass quarterback who makes mince meat out of our AFC North opponents for a change.
