The Cleveland Browns have faced a bit of scrutiny for their decisions in Round 1 of the NFL Draft on Thursday night. After trading away three picks to the Minnesota Vikings in order to move up from the fourth overall selection to the third overall selection to pick running back Trent Richardson, the team also decided to select 28 year old quarterback, Brandon Weeden with the 22nd overall selection effectively creating a quarterback controversy with incumbent, Colt McCoy.
Needless to say reviews have been mixed of the Browns first round.
However, SB Nation NFL Editor, Joel Thorman thinks the Browns did what they needed to. He gave the team a 'B' grade and explained his thinking like so:
"Some say the Browns giving up 4th, 5th and 7th round picks to move up one spot for Trent Richardson is too much. But you're also picking a guy that will hopefully touch the ball 20+ times a game. Brandon Weeden was Cleveland's other first round pick. Uh, Colt McCoy?"
