2012 NFL Draft: Browns Take Miami WR Travis Benjamin With Fourth-Round Pick

Stay connected for news and updates

The Cleveland Browns have selected University of Miami receiver Travis Benjamin with the No. 5 pick of the fourth round. Tom Heckert has been blasted by Browns fans for years for refusing to take a wide receiver in the draft, to punch up one of the least productive pass-catching corps in the league. And he went ahead right at the top of the 3rd day and selected a speedster from the U.

Benjamin had 41 catches for 609 yards and three touchdowns last season with the Hurricanes. His best game came against North Carolina, when he had eight catches for 99 yards and a touchdown.

He had five games with at least four catches and was second on the team in both receptions and yards.

Benjamin is slight, at 5-10 and 172 pounds, but he is also a speed-burner. At the Combine, he was clocked at 4.36 in the 40.

The Browns have one more fourth-round pick (No. 25 in the fourth, No. 120 overall), and then a handful more:

Round 5: No. 160

Round 6: No. 204

Round 6: No. 205

Round 7: No. 245

Round 7: No. 247
