2012 NFL Draft Results: Browns Select Emmanuel Acho In Sixth Round

With the No. 204 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns have selected outside linebacker Emmanuel Acho out of Texas. The pick was a compensatory selection, and judging by most value charts, appears to be a solid pick. He's the second linebacker drafted by the Browns thus far, with James-Michael Johnson out of Nevada being their pick in round four, but he plays inside.

Acho, on the other hand, is somewhere in between. He played all over the field with the Longhorns and probably needs to put on some weight before being able to play inside in the NFL. That being said, he's a very fluid player, and National Football Post had good things to say about him in their scouting report:

Impression: Isn't a dynamic straight-line athlete, but plays faster because of instincts. Is a good tackler, can shed blocks and plays stronger than his frame would indicate. Has the versatility to play a number of spots in a 4-3 scheme or get some looks inside in a 34. Looks like a potential starter in the NFL either way.

Cleveland has been looking for some help at the linebacker position, with their defensive front gaining notable pass-rushing ability last season with the addition of Jabaal Sheard. They're looking to solidify things beyond that absolute first line and Acho would seem to fit the bill.
