Browns Offseason: Seneca Wallace Doesn't Want To Be No. 3 QB, Expects He Or McCoy To Be Moved

With the Cleveland Browns wrapping up Organized Team Activities on Tuesday morning, much of the attention was focused upon the starting quarterback position. After selecting 28-year old Brandon Weeden with the No. 22 overall selection in April's draft, the writing has been on the wall that the Browns hope Weeden will become the franchise's quarterback of the future.

This, of course, causes problems for the incumbents Seneca Wallace and Colt McCoy. Following practice on Tuesday, Wallace was outspoken in his beliefs that by the start of the season all three quarterbacks who attended OTAs will not be with the club. He also made it clear that he has no desire to be a No. 3 quarterback, which contradicted Browns head coach Pat Shurmer's belief that Wallace would accept the role.

Wallace's comments via Cleveland.com:

"Can any of you guys see all three of us being here?'' Wallace said. "You've written about it, so that answers your question...Probably not,'' he said.

"No, not really (I don't want to be the No. 3),'' said Wallace. "That's something that obviously for no reason you go down to the third guy, and we all know the third guy doesn't dress on Sundays and if that comes down to that decision, obviously neither one of us (him or McCoy)wants to be that third guy.''

When Colt McCoy was asked about the situation he was determined to win the starting job.

"When I come out to practice, in my mind, I'm the starter,'' said McCoy.

He said he hasn't contemplated asking for a trade when Weeden is named the No. 1, which Shurmur has indicated will happen "sooner than later.''

"My mind is on OTAs,'' he said.

Weeden was still taking first team drills on Tuesday and stated that he still doesn't feel like the starter yet despite making progress in his development.
