Robert Griffin III: 'Cleveland Was The Place I Thought I Would Be'

The NFL is holding its Rookie Symposium in nearby Aurora this week. The Symposium returns after being canceled last year during the lockout negotiations. The incoming class of rookies are scheduled to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame this week, in addition to hearing a number of talks from former and current players on how to navigate the new world of being a professional.

On Tuesday the NFC rookies made their way west to the Browns facilities in Berea for an "NFL Play 60" event. Among the group was Robert Griffin III, the No. 2 overall pick taken by the Redskins after they beat out the Browns in a bidding war for the Rams choice. RGIII spoke to the assembled Cleveland press about what could have been.

Via Zac Jackson of Fox Sports Ohio:

"Once I declared for the draft, Cleveland was the place I thought I would be because (the Browns) had the most firepower when it came to draft picks and tradeability," he said. "It didn't turn out that way and I have no idea why it didn't."

Griffin said he thought briefly about the possibility of how different things might be as he walked into the Browns' complex Tuesday morning, but then quickly moved on to the business at hand.

"It turned out a different way," he said. "There's no looking back from here."

One can be sure that Cleveland Browns fans will do plenty of looking back, regardless of how things pan out.
