Cleveland Browns Training Camp: Ahtyba Rubin Still Recovering From Pelvis Tear

Though football fans are excited for training camp to begin, not all the news is great -- at least not for the Cleveland Browns. Defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin is still recovering from a procedure that repaired a slight pelvic tear six weeks ago, according to Mary Kay Cabot.

The injury is not believed to be significant.

The injury is similar to a sports hernia. It's unknown how Rubin suffered the tear.

Rubin, who finished second on the team with 83 tackles and second with five sacks, should be back within "a couple of days,'' coach Pat Shurmur said. He would not confirm the procedure.

As Cabot notes, Phil Taylor is out until October or November, so any type of significant injury to Rubin would be especially detrimental to the Browns and their playoff hopes in 2012.

For the time being, Rubin has been placed on the physically unable to perform list.
