Browns Preseason News: Colt McCoy Still Proud To Be A Cleveland Brown

Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy remains focused on earning a role with the Cleveland Browns even if that role is to back up starter Brandon Weeden.

McCoy commented on his status with the Browns as he battles for the backup spot with Seneca Wallace after a rough first two seasons to start his NFL career.

"I got drafted here," McCoy said Tuesday. "I've spent a lot of time here. I feel comfortable with what we're doing. I love my teammates. I love the organization and I love this city.

"We've been through a lot of ups and downs. I come out here every day and work hard. I challenge myself. If I don't get as many reps, I'll go inside and watch tape and get mental reps. I'm continuing to compete and continuing to work hard. That's all I can do right now. But I'm a Cleveland Brown and proud to be one."

McCoy started his NFL career while still recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in his final college game at Texas, the BCS championship game in 2010. With his shoulder in better shape, McCoy has the confidence to keep working for an opportunity to play in the NFL even if the Browns decide to release before camp ends.
