The Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles will face each other in Week 1 of the 2012 regular season, and Cleveland will hope the first half of that game goes better than the Friday night's preseason game. The Browns exited the first half down 17-3 after getting beaten soundly by Philadelphia on both sides of the ball.
On offense, the Browns managed to average only 3.3 yards per play in the first half, and also turned the ball over twice. This tweet from after the first quarter about sums it up, and things did not get better from there:
Cleveland's defense was hamstrung by poor field position, but still gave up two touchdown passes to Eagles rookie backup quarterback Nick Foles.
Two bright spots for the Browns in the first half were its run defense, which allowed one yard on seven rushes, and rookie receiver Josh Gordon, who hauled in three passes for 50 yards.
