Eric Hagg Injury: Browns DB Leaves Game With Eye Injury

Stay connected for news and updates

Cleveland Browns defensive back Eric Hagg has left Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals with an eye injury, as the team announced. His return to the game is questionable, so undrafted rookie Tashaun Gipson will likely get most of the snaps at free safety for the rest of the game.

Hagg, 23, has emerged as a starter with the Browns early this season after appearing in 10 games with the team during his rookie season in 2011. A seventh round pick out of Nebraska last year, he battled injuries as a rookie but has slowly gained the confidence of the coaching staff.

In Hagg's place, Gipson is getting significant playing time in his second career NFL game. After going undrafted out of Wyoming, Gipson made his professional debut last week. Now he's being asked to face an offense that includes A.J. Green.
