Cleveland Browns tight end Alex Smith suffered a concussion Sunday, and is day-to-day with the injury.
Cleveland Browns tight end Alex Smith sustained a concussion in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Smith is now listed as "day-to-day" while he recovers from the head injury.
Smith's agent, Kevin Robinson, informed the Cleveland Plain Dealer that the eighth-year pro was examined and released from a Cincinnati hospital Sunday night, then driven to Cleveland by a trainer. Robinson had this to say about the injury:
"I think everyone is just being overly cautious right now," said Robinson. "Alex didn't give me the impression it was anything to be overly concerned about."
Smith left Sunday's game with 9:57 to play in the fourth quarter, after taking a knee to the helmet after catching a 3-yard pass from Brandon Weeden. Smith caught three passes for 30 yards in the 34-27 loss.
