Cavaliers' Daniel Gibson, Anthony Parker Out Vs. Celtics

As if the Cavs weren't thin enough at the shooting guard position, Cleveland will be without both Daniel Gibson and Anthony Parker when the team plays against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday.

In one of the NBA's more fun scheduling quirks, the Cavaliers' next game will be at home in The Q against the team they just played in Boston. Kyrie Irving and the bunch got the better of the Celtics after the rookie hit a gamewinning layup to give the Cavs a 88-87 win and move the team to a 8-11 record.

Gibson stayed in Boston to get testing done on his neck, while Parker's back flared up during the game on Sunday.

To fill the void, the Cavs will turn to undrafted rookie Mychel Thompson, who went 2-3 with two rebounds and a steal in just his second game of the year (he previously played 2:23 in a Jan. 4 loss to Toronto). Thompson, a Pepperdine product, is the son of former first overall pick Mychal Thompson. Mychal played 14 years in the NBA, including four years with Cavaliers Head Coach Byron Scott on the Los Angeles Lakers.

Christian Eyenga, the 30th overall pick in the 2009 draft, might also be called into action. Eyenga has appeared in one game this season, and spent much of January with the Canton Charge.

The Cavs will hopefully have Gibson and Parker back soon, but if either miss significant time, the team could look to a familiar face. Manny Harris, playing for Canton, was named the NBA D League Player of The Week today after averaging 25 points and 7.3 rebounds last week. He is averaging 19 points and seven rebounds in 10 games with the Charge.
