Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers will need to deliver some more heroics in order to come back against the Boston Celtics, as Cleveland trails 51-39 at halftime at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on Tuesday evening.
Two nights after the Cavaliers ended an 88-87 win over the Celtics on a 12-0 run punctuated by Kyrie Irving's game-winner, Boston coincidentally leads by a point at halftime in the second game of a home-and-home.
This time, Irving is just 1-5 from the field with 6 points, while Anderson Varejao is pacing Cleveland with 14 points and 7 rebounds at the break.
The Celtics, who have led the entire way with the exception of a couple minutes early in the first quarter, are shooting 52.5 % from the field and have received 23 points off the bench already. Brandon Bass has chipped in with 8 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge off Boston's bench.
