Byron Scott: NBA's new flopping policy won't affect Cavs

Byron Scott doesn't believe that the NBA's new rule to cut down on flopping will have any affect on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The subject came up when Scott talked to the media recently, and he had the following to say on the matter (via The News-Herald)

"It doesn't affect us. We don't have any floppers. It doesn't affect us one bit. Let's be tough. Play like a man. I understand the whole thing behind it. They thought it was getting a bit ugly. I don't know how much it will affect the game. There are a handful of guys who do it on the regular basis. I don't think it's such a big deal."

Scott also told the media that Cavs center/forward Anderson Varejao no longer flops. The NBA have set the following as their punishment for flopping:

Violation 1) Warning

Violation 2) $5,000 fine

Violation 3) $10,000 fine

Violation 4) $15,000 fine

Violation 5) $30,000 fine

Flopping violations beyond a fifth will be looked at on a case by case basis, with increased fines and suspensions as a possibility.

The Cavaliers' season gets underway on Oct 30 at home against the Washington Wizards. The complete 2013 Cavs schedule can be found here.
