Both Kyrie Irving & Tristan Thompson will be in Orlando during All-Star Weekend. The two Cleveland Cavaliers rookies were recently named to the NBA Rising Stars Challenge roster on Wednesday.
↵Irving, the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, is averaging 18 points and 5.1 assists. Thompson, the fourth pick in this year's draft, has been hampered with an ankle injury recently, and it is still not known how long he will be out. He has averaged 17.4 minutes with just over seven points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
↵The two Cavs will join Blake Griffin, Gordon Hayward, Brandon Knight, Evan Turner, John Wall, Kemba Walker, Derrick Williams and Ricky Rubio, among others in the Rising Stars game, which honors first and second-year players. The teams were selected by NBA assistant coaches.
↵Cleveland fans might also get to see Anderson Varejao making the trip to Orlando, as a member of the Eastern Conference All-Stars. The 29-year-old Brazilian is hoping he will make the team, and is high on the list of possible reserves. The full All-Star roster will be announced Thursday.
