NBA Trade Deadline: Cavaliers Plan To Waive Jason Kapono, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

The Cleveland Cavaliers were able to make some deals prior to the trade deadline, most notably in a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. That deal sent Ramon Sessions out West and brought a couple of players to Cleveland. It appears that the Cavs no not necessarily need all of the players they received in the trade, however.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! News reports that Jason Kapono, who was sent to Cleveland as part of the trade, will be waived by the Cavaliers. The waiver move will make Kapono a free agent.

Kapono has averaged 2.0 points per game in the lockout-shortened 2011-12 NBA season. A UCLA alum, Kapono was selected in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cavaliers.
