Cavaliers Vs. Wizards Final Score: D-League Call-Up Harangody Shines In 98-89 Cleveland Win

Stay connected for news and updates

It didn't take Luke Harangody very long to get acquainted with his surroundings on Saturday night. Called up from the NBA Developmental League earlier in the afternoon, the 6-foot-8 Harangody scored 16 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, recorded three steals, and even hit a three-pointer in 34 minutes of action to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers over the Washington Wizards 98-89 in a battle of two lottery-bound franchises.

The ultra-athletic Wizards blocked nine shots as a team and were far superior on the offensive glass throughout the game, but could not mount a fourth quarter rally. Point guard John Wall led the way for Washington with 19 points and nine assists, while forward Jan Vesely posted an impressive double-double performance (11 points, 11 rebounds).

All five Cleveland starters scored in double figures, while long-range volume shooter Lester Hudson also added 10 of his own off the bench. The convincing win moves Cleveland to 20-38 on the season, a sign of progress just one day after the Cavs were promptly dismissed in a 19-point drubbing by Indiana. Harangody and company will return home and play host to Orlando on Sunday looking to go back-to-back.
