Cavaliers Vs. Nets: New Jersey Pulls Away In Overtime 122-117

There will be no two-game winning streak for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but they did come close to making it two in a row on Sunday. Lester Hudson buried a three-pointer as time expired in regulation to allow the Cavs to send the game to overtime tied 109-109. Once there, it was mostly New Jersey, as the Nets outscored Cleveland 13-8 to earn a 122-117 victory.

The victory made sure that another stellar night by Antawn Jamison went for nothing, as he finished with 34 points on 12 of 19 shooting. Hudson was incredibly productive as well, scoring 26 off the bench while Alonzo Gee had 22.

It was the Nets' Gerald Green that made the difference for the Nets with 32 points off the bench. Anthony Morrow also had 24 points off the bench, as Cleveland struggled all night long to slow down New Jersey's secondary players.

Cavaliers Vs. Nets Score Update: Cleveland Collapses In Second, Down 56-48 At Half

The Cleveland Cavaliers came out quite strong in the first quarter on Sunday, but promptly fell apart over the next 12 minutes to allow the Nets to take an eight-point 56-48 lead into halftime.

New Jersey opened the second quarter on an 18-3 run while Cleveland continued to pile up bricked shots and turnovers and effectively gave up control of the game. The Nets managed to outscore the Cavs 30-18 in the second period alone, keyed by strong play from reserve Gerald Green, who leads New Jersey with 13 points.

Rookie forward Tristan Thompson has been all over the court for Cleveland in the first half despite the deficit, and has nine points, six rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal. Veteran Antawn Jamison also looks strong for the Cavs with 14 points, but has two turnovers and has yet to get going as a rebounder.

Cavaliers Vs. Nets Score Update: Cleveland Holds Slim 30-26 Lead After One Quarter

In a battle of two teams that will each be hoping for some luck from NBA Draft ping pong balls later this summer, the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers lead New Jersey 19-11 after one quarter of action.

Cleveland point guard Donald Sloan, who owns a 5-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio over his last two games, leads all players with four assists. Emerging talent Lester Hudson has also continued his hot-shooting stroke early on by nailing a pair of three-pointers, and has eight points despite being on the floor for only a fraction of the quarter.

The Nets shot poorly for much of the opening quarter, and finished shooting 9-for-21 (42.9%) as a team. Power forward Kris Humphries, who is 1-for-6 with four points, has not been able to find a rhythm against Cleveland rookie big man Tristan Thompson on the inside.
