The Cleveland Indians really are building for the future. The team signed 16-year old Kevin Calderon from the Dominican Republic as an international free agent for $80,000.

According to the report on Cleveland.com, Calderon is 5-11, 170 lbs, hits and throws from the right side and he is working out at the Indians baseball academy in the Domincan.

“He’s an excellent athlete,” said John Mirabelli, Indians director of scouting. “He has solid defensive skills and an above average arm. He needs strength and experience.”
