Former Indians Perez, Bere Hired As Special Assistants; Lofton To Be Guest Instructor

Stay connected for news and updates

Former Tribe members Jason Bere and Eduardo Perez have joined the Indians front office as special assistant to general manager Chris Antonetti. Both of them will be in uniform as instructors to the spring training staff. Tribe Hall of Famer Kenny Lofton is also close to becoming an outfield and base-running instructor, which could lead to a larger role with the team.

Perez, 41, was traded for Indians middle infielder Asdrubal Cabrera back in 2005. He is also in his sixth year as an analyst on ESPN’s "Baseball Tonight," where he will remain for this upcoming summer. Bere made limited starts during his Tribe stint due to persisting injury problems. He is 39.
