Indians Waste Nine-Hit Attack, Lose To Rockies 3-1

Stay connected for news and updates

After Lonnie Chisenhall gave the Indians a lead in the first inning today with a home run, Colorado struck right back against Justin Masterson (0-1), and although the Tribe mustered nine hits against seven Rockies’ pitchers, they never scored again, as Colorado went on to post a 3-1 victory to drop Cleveland to 4-5 in the Cactus League.

Colorado managed only five hits, but it was good enough. Especially effective for the Indians were Frank Herrmann and Drew Pomeranz, each of whom pitched two scoreless innings, with Pomeranz fanning three and not allowing a base-runner.

Cleveland takes on the White Sox again tomorrow afternoon, as the Indians try to crawl back to .500 and the White Sox look for only their second win of the spring.

An Indians’ split-squad defeated Chicago 8-3 on Saturday.
