IN PROGRESS: Seattle Scores Four, Chases Tomlin Out In The 5th To Take a 6-2 Lead Over Indians

The Indians lineup isn’t exactly anything special today. No Asdrubal. No Brantley. Choo scratched with pregame “trunk soreness.” So with runs at a premium, especially against King Felix, the Tribe needed the best out of Josh Tomlin. They haven’t exactly gotten it.

Tomlin allowed six earned through 4.2 innings on 13 baserunners, with the bottom four in the Mariners’ order going 6-11 with all six RBI.

After a two-run Wily Mo Pena homerun put Seattle up 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Jack Hannahan singled home Lonnie Chisenhall to tie it up in the bottom of the inning.

Seattle stormed right back to retake the lead, as the Mariners sent eight men to the plate. Tomlin was unable to get through the any of the Murderer’s Row of Miguel Olivo, Kyle Seager and Wily Mo Pena before being relieved by Joe Smith, who promptly retired Trayvon Robinson to end the inning.

By being unable to make it out of the fifth inning, this ends Josh Tomlin's streak at 5+ IP at 37. He'll stay tied with Toronto Blue Jays manager John Farrell who had his streak from 1987-88.
