The latest thoughts and opinions on Cleveland sports.
The Columbus Clippers have done it again.
The Indians' Triple-A farm club, after winning the Governors' Cup that signifies the championship of the International League, went one better last night, winning the Triple-A national title with an 8-3 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers of the Pacific Coast League in Albuquerque, New Mexcico.
It was the second straight year that the Clippers have won the national title for the highest tier of the minor leagues.
Joe Martinez went seven innings to win his third game of the postseason, while Luke Carlin's 3-run homer tied the game in the second, and Jared Goedert put Columbus ahead to stay with a third-inning double.
All of this despite an astonishing 186 transactions this year, due to the plethora of injuries for the parent club.
(Again) congratulations Clippers!
