Ubaldo Jimenez Faces Mark Buehrle Wednesday Night At 7:05

After splitting a day-night doubleheader on Tuesday, the Indians and the White Sox will get back at it tonight at 7:05 at Progressive Field when Ubaldo Jimenez takes on Mark Buehrle.

The Indians come in with a game and a half lead over Chicago for second place in the American League Central.

Jimenez has won his last two starts to improve to 4-2 with the Tribe. One of those victories came on September 11 when he defeated the Chisox 7-3, allowing two runs in six innings of work to gain his first decision in three career appearances vs. Chicago.

Buehrle was the starter and winner on Opening Day, which seems like about a year ago now, doesn’t it?

Buehrle (11-9) has lost three in a row and has been hammered in each of those starts since beating Minnesota on August 29. In 15.1 innings over those three starts, Buehrle has allowed 20 earned runs to jump his ERA on the season from 3.05 to 3.74.

One of the losses in Buehrle’s current streak was against the Tribe on September 9 in Chicago. In that outing Buehrle went 5.2 innings and surrendered seven runs in an 8-4 Cleveland win.

For his career, in 46 games, including 45 starts, Buehrle is 14-17 vs. the Indians with a 4.81 ERA.

This series will wrap up on Thursday at 7:05 when Philip Humber takes on Jeanmar Gomez. Then Minnesota comes to town beginning Friday for the last home series of 2011.
