White Sox vs. Indians preview: Tribe try to finish strong vs. Chicago

Stay connected for news and updates

The Cleveland Indians will take on the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night, one night after the White Sox were eliminated from the playoffs by the Detroit Tigers. The struggling Justin Masterson (11-15, 5.03 ERA) will take the ball for the Indians for the final time this year, and will face off against Jake Peavy (11-12, 3.37 ERA). Masterson has been downright bad over his last six starts, good for a 1-4 record and 7.31 ERA over that stretch.

The game will be Sandy Alomar's fifth as interim manager of the Tribe. He has a 2-2 record over his first four games since Manny Acta was fired, and should be interviewing for the full time position by the end of the week. Former Red Sox manager Terry Francona is set to interview with the team on Friday.

First pitch from Progressive Field will be at 7:05 p.m. ET. The game can be seen locally on SportsTime Ohio.
