White Sox vs. Indians final score: Indians rally for 4-3 win in 12 innings

Stay connected for news and updates

Cleveland Indians center fielder Jason Donald singled to left to plate Lonnie Chisenhall for the game-winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning, giving the Tribe a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.

A 1-1 pitchers' duel heading into the ninth inning turned into a slugfest, as both teams belted two-run homers to send the game into extra innings. The White Sox appeared to have the game won in the top of the ninth after left fielder Dayan Viciedo hit a two-run homer to break the tie and give Chicago starter Jake Peavy a lead for the first time in the ball game.

Cleveland pinch-hitter Travis Hafner then came off the bench to wake up the Indians' offense with a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth, tying the game at 3-3. Hafner's blast to right field knocked out Peavy, denying the right-hander a complete-game win opportunity after a strong performance through eight innings.

Cleveland reliever Chris Seddon (1-1) earned his first win of the season as he took care of the White Sox in order in the top half of the 12th inning, allowing Donald to play the role of hero in the bottom of the 12th.

The two teams will finish the season on Wednesday night starting at 7:05 p.m. ET.
