Former Cleveland Indians right-handed pitcher and current free agent Roberto Hernandez, formerly known as Fausto Carmona, is drawing interest from a lot of clubs according to Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Hernandez, 32, missed most of last season due to immigration issues surrounding his false identity as Fausto Carmona. He did not enter the Indians' rotation until August and only made three starts on the season. In those starts Hernandez went 0-3 with a 7.53 ERA and gave up four home runs while only recording two strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings.
Cleveland neglected to pick up his 2013 option, but are still interested in signing Hernandez as a free agent. Over his seven-year career, he has a 53-69 record with a 4.64 ERA and 567 strikeouts, all with the Indians. Hernandez had impressive seasons in 2007 and 2010, but has had an ERA over 5.00 in his five other seasons.
