After undergoing Tommy John surgery in September 2011 and subsequently being placed on the injured reserve list, right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco was finally activated by the Cleveland Indians from the 60-day disabled list on Friday. The team also claimed right-handed pitcher Blake Wood off waivers from the Royals, the Indians announced on Friday.

Carrasco has played in three seasons for the Indians, including 21 starts during the 2011 season. He had an 8-9 record and 4.62 ERA prior to his season-ending elbow injury.

Wood also missed the entire 2012 season after undergoing surgery in his right elbow in May. The 27-year old appeared in 55 games for the Royals during the 2011 season as a reliever, finishing the season with a 5-3 record and 3.75 ERA.

The Indians also announced they have activated left-hander Rafael Perez and right-hander Josh Tomlin from the 60-day disabled list as well. The Indians finished the 2012 season with a 68-94 record and the fourth spot in the American League Central.
