MLB trade rumors: Indians-Reds deal involving Shin-Soo Choo likely includes Diamondbacks

David Richard-US PRESSWIRE

The Indians could be on the verge of acquiring Cincinnati center fielder Drew Stubbs.

The Cleveland Indians are reportedly close to dealing Shin-Soo Choo to the Cincinnati Reds in a three-team trade that would also involve the Arizona Diamondbacks. According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX, the Indians would send Choo to the Reds, netting Cincinnati center fielder Drew Stubbs and one of Arizona's top pitching prospects. The Indians would also send Jason Donald to the Reds, who would ship top shortstop prospect Didi Gregorius to the Diamondbacks.

Rosenthal reports that the Arizona pitcher sent to Cleveland will be one of Trevor Bauer, Patrick Corbin or Tyler Skaggs. All three pitchers saw time in the majors last season, with Corbin having the most success over a handful of starts. Gregorious, meanwhile, took 21 plate appearances in the majors for the Reds last season but put up a .711 OPS across two minor-league levels for the majority of the season.

The 30-year-old Choo is in the final year of his contract in Cleveland, and it is not believed that the team has any intentions of re-signing him. Adding one of Arizona's top pitchers would add a top talent to a system that has been lacking after Drew Pomeranz and Alex White were dealt for Ubaldo Jimenez.
