The Cleveland Indians confirmed Tuesday what had been reported Monday: Catcher Carlos Santana isn't going anywhere for a while.
Santana and the Indians have agreed on a five-year, $21-million contract. The deal runs through 2016, with a club option for 2017.
MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reported Monday night that a deal was eminent, and on Tuesday he confirmed as much via Twitter:
Indians make it official: Santana signed to 5-year deal with club option for 2017. Press conference scheduled for the afternoon.
