The Cleveland Indians are off to an impressive 8-5 start to the year behind strong pitching and locked-in hitting, and are close to returning a crucial piece in lefthander David Huff, who was recalled from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.

Huff, who went down with a strained right hamstring on March 29th, pitched four innings with Double-A Akron before being sent to Columbus. The team is expected to monitor his progress before making the determination on when a final call-up will be necessary.
Huff entered the season in a tight competition for a role in Cleveland's starting rotation, but appears to be the odd man out after a hot start by the duo of Jeanmar Gomez and Josh Tomlin. With the Indians coming out strong and looking like a viable playoff contender early on however, Huff could play a significant role as the season progresses and injuries begin to take their toll.
