The Cleveland Indians gave up three runs in the first inning and couldn't battle back on Monday night against the Chicago White Sox.

The Cleveland Indians fell to 1-3 on the young season, losing to the Chicago White Sox 4-2 at an empty Progressive Field on Monday night. Starter Josh Tomlin was tabbed with the loss for the Tribe and Chris Sale, making his first career start, picked up the win for the White Sox. Hector Santiago recorded his second save of the season in the White Sox win.

Tomlin gave up three runs in the first inning on two dingers, but settled down to throw five while striking out seven. Unfortunately, the Indians could only get a single run in the sixth and ninth innings on just five hits.

Alejandro De Aza and A.J. Pierzynski homered for the White Sox, who banged out 11 hits as a team. Carlos Santana, who reportedly agreed to a multiyear extension with the Indians tonight, and Jose Lopez picked up the only RBIs for Cleveland.

The Indians and White Sox continue their three-game series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m.
