Indians Vs. White Sox Final Score: Cleveland Edges Chicago 7-5

The Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox by a final score of 7-5 on Thursday night.

The Indians rode the hot bats of Jason Kipnis and Asdrubal Cabrera on offense to secure the victory. It started early as Kipnis tripled in the third inning which scored Johnny Damon and Cabrera followed that up with a single to score Kipnis which gave the Tribe an early 3-0 lead.

Kipnis finished the game with four RBI's and scored two runs while Cabrera knocked in two RBI's and scored one run.

The White Sox made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth inning on a two-run homer by Adam Dunn with just one out, but Chicago would be unable to generate anymore offense late, giving Cleveland the series win at US Cellular Field, 2-1.

Indians Vs. White Sox: Johnny Damon In For Travis Hafner At DH

The Cleveland Indians (12-10) have not lost a road series all season and they look to continue that streak Thursday at US Cellular Field in Chicago for their third and final game with the White Sox (12-12).

Travis Hafner, who belted a two-run home run in the ninth inning Wednesday, is being replaced as the designated hitter in the lineup by newly acquired Johnny Damon, according to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.

Damon was 0-3 in his Indians debut Wednesday as a left fielder, before he left the game in the sixth inning due to cramps.

Indians Vs. White Sox: Central Division Foes Meet For Rubber Match On Thursday

The Cleveland Indians (12-10) and Chicago White Sox (12-12) will conclude a three-game set at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago on Thursday night. Each team has earned a win in the first two games of the series with Wednesday night deciding the series winner. With Chicago trailing Cleveland by a single game for the Central Division lead, the game will undoubtedly have a competitive tone.

Considering that the White Sox won on Tuesday night by a score of 7-2 and the Indians won on Wednesday night by a score of 6-3, it's safe to speculate that an offensive night isn't out of the question.

The probable starters for Thursday are Justin Masterson for the Indians and John Danks for the White Sox. Masterson is 0-2 in five starts this season with a 5.40 ERA in 30 innings pitched with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 20-17. He is 3-5 lifetime against the White Sox with a 2.31 ERA.

Danks is 2-3 in five starts this season with a 6.23 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched and has a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 24-15. He is 4-7 lifetime against the Tribe with a 4.90 ERA.

The game will start at 8:10 EST.

Indians Vs. White Sox Final Score: Carlos Santana, Travis Hafner Homers Lift Cleveland, 6-3

The Indians finally got to the Chicago White Sox pitching in the second of a three-game series and evened it with a 6-3 win on Wednesday night.

Cleveland loaded the bases in two of the first three innings against White Sox starter Phil Humber, but he struck out the side in the first and got Carlos Santana and Shin-Soo Choo to escape in the second. The Indians finally got to Humber in the top of the fifth inning, though, when Santana blasted a three-run shot over 430 feet.

After the White Sox tied the game in the home half of the fifth, the Indians would add a run against Will Ohman in the eighth and two more off Matt Thornton in the top half of the ninth on a Hafner bomb. Chris Perez threw a clean ninth for his 8th save of the season.

The Indians and White Sox close out their three-game set on Thursday at 8:10 p.m. ET.

Indians Vs. White Sox: Johnny Damon Exits Debut Early With General Cramping

It took Johnny Damon a few weeks to officially sign with the Cleveland Indians and join the team. On Wednesday night, he finally made his debut against the Chicago White Sox.

Unfortunately, that debut only lasted five and a half innings as he was replaced in the field in the bottom of the sixth by Shelley Duncan. Nobody seemed to know why Damon exited the game at first, but the Indians made an announcement on Twitter shortly thereafter:

The newest Indian was 0-2 with a walk and the Indians were tied 3-3 when Duncan replaced Damon.

Indians Vs. White Sox: Cleveland Tries To Rebound In Second Game Of Series

Philip Humber went about as hot and cold as a pitcher can possibly go in his last two games. After throwing a perfect game, his next start was a nine run effort that chased him quickly. The Cleveland Indians will try and emulate the latter start more than the former when they face him in game two of their three game series against the Chicago White Sox after losing game one 7-3.

Humber will face Josh Tomlin for the Indians. Tomlin has been roughed up a bit this year with a 1-2 record and 5.48 ERA.

The big news for the Indians of course is Johnny Damon likely making his debut in an Indians uniform on Wednesday night, hopefully putting some pop into a Cleveland offense that has been anything but frightening for the opposition so far in 2012.

The game will be at 8:10 p.m. ET.

Indians Vs. White Sox Final Score: Ubaldo Jimenez, Cleveland Falls Flat In Chicago, 7-2

Ubaldo Jimenez continued to struggle on Tuesday night against the White Sox, walking six batters and only lasting four-plus innings while giving up seven runs in a 7-2 loss.

An Asdrubal Cabrera error in the bottom of the third led to three unearned runs for the White Sox, who had eight hits to supplement their six free passes. Cleveland would load the bases in the top of the ninth against Hector Santiago, but came up empty to fall to 11-10 on the season and back into a three-way tie for first place with the Sox and Tigers.

The Indians only had six hits and Shelley Duncan had two of them (a home run and a double) and Jason Kipnis had three.

The Indians continue their three-game set in Chicago tomorrow at 8:10 p.m. ET.

Cleveland is in first place in the AL Central. And while it's still early -- Cleveland was first last year, as well -- the Indians could solidify their position as contenders in the division this week when they play the second-place White Sox.
