Indians Vs. Red Sox, Game 3: Cleveland's Josh Tomlin Scratched, Zach McAllister To Make Emergency Start

A sore right wrist to starting pitcher Josh Tomlin has forced the Cleveland Indians to make a change to their lineup card for Game 3 of a four-game set against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. Tomlin was scheduled to take the mound for the 7:10 p.m. ET contest at Fenway Park, however, Zach McAllister will be called up from Triple-A to take his place.

Oddly, Tomlin says his wrist soreness could have been caused from gripping the ball too tightly in the rain during his start on Monday. (I guess, you could chalk that up as a baseball cause of injury we never heard before.)

Regardless, the Indians will need to now decided how they're going to make room for McAllister, who's making his second major league start this season. According to Paul Hoynes, the Indians beat writer for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Indians will either place Tomlin on the disable list or demote a player on Cleveland's current roster.

McAllister will oppose Red Sox starter Felix Dubront (2-1, 5.01 ERA).
