Cleveland Indians skipper Manny Acta said that removing Carlos Santana from Friday night's game with a neck/head injury was merely a precautionary move and that the Indians starting catcher could have stayed in the game if the outcome of the game wasn't all but decided.
News changed on Saturday, however, when Santana was not placed in the Indians' starting lineup. Not only was Santana not in the lineup, though, he wasn't even on the lineup card and catcher Luke Carlin was activated. Thus, speculation grew that Santana was on his way to the disabled list.
That is the case, according to Nick Camino:
Just got word #Indians C Carlos Santana has been placed on the new 7-day DL with concussion.

Santana is tied for the lead on the Indians with 24 RBI and he has five home runs.
