As expected, Memorial Day starter Josh Tomlin was activated from the disabled list, while regular third baseman Jack Hannahan took his place on the inactive roster due to a left calf strain. In addition, the Indians designated reliever Jairo Asencio for assignment and called up infielder Lonnie Chisenhall to fill the roster spot.

Losing a .274 hitter like Hannahan is not the most pleasant scenario for a first-place team, but the Indians have to be ecstatic about getting Tomlin back at full health. The 27-year-old righty won 12 games with a 4.25 ERA last year over 26 starts, and posted an impressive 1.08 WHIP along the way. With inconsistent performances from Cleveland starters becoming more of a trend, Tomlin's presence in the rotation could be a driving force to get this team back on track.
