Indians Vs. Royals: Tribe Snap Three-Game Skid With 8-5 Win Over Kansas City

On Monday night, the Cleveland Indians snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating the Kansas City Royals 8-5 in the first game of a three-game homestand at Progressive Field.

With the Royals up 2-0 entering the bottom of the third inning, the Indians exploded for five runs in the frame powered by a lead-off homerun by Lonnie Chisenhall. With the bases loaded and one out, Jason Kipnis put the Tribe up by a run when he scored Shin-Soo Choo and Luke Carlin with an RBI single up the middle. Jose Lopez and Casey Kotchman both added RBI singles to increase the lead to 5-2 in favor of Cleveland. Kansas City managed to score runs in the fifth and seventh inning, but each time they gained ground, the Indians responded in their half of the frame to keep the lead intact.

Josh Tomlin recorded the win with four earned runs on as many hits in five innings pitched, while Nathan Adcock was pinned with loss allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits in 2.1 innings pitched. Chris Perez earned his 17th save of the season.
