The Indians made a trade for Colorado pitcher Esmil Rogers on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations.

The Cleveland Indians made a trade to bolster their pitching staff on Tuesday right before first pitch of their scheduled game with Cincinnati, and picked up pitcher Esmil Rogers from Colorado for cash considerations.

The 26-year-old right-hander was deemed expendable by the Rockies for his inordinately-high 8.06 ERA as a reliever this season after spending much of last year as a starter. Rogers finished his 2011 campaign with a 7.05 ERA and 1.89 WHIP, and completely wore down in the second half as his control began to fade.

A strong arm with plus stuff, the Dominican Republic-born pitcher still has plenty of quality innings left in his arm, and certainly came at a cheap price for a Cleveland squad in desperate need of more long-inning pitchers. Though he has never made a start in 2012, Rogers has tallied 29 strikeouts over just 25.2 innings and could be a solid addition if he can find a way to adjust to American League hitting.
