The Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates will open a three-game interleague set on Friday night at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

On Friday night, the Cleveland Indians (32-30) will begin a three-game interleague set against the Pittsburgh Pirates (32-30) at Progressive Field. The Indians will come into the series on the back of a disappointing sweep at the hands of the Cincinnati Reds, where the Tribe was outscored 24-9. Despite the poor showing, the Indians still sit just 1.5 games behind the Chicago White Sox for first place in the American League's Central Division.

The Pirates will be coming into the game in a similar fashion as they too are coming off of a sweep. The team dropped three straight games at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles, where the Pirates were outscored 27-13. Pittsburgh now sits three games back of Cincinnati for first place in the National League's Central Division.

The projected starters for Friday night are Justin Masterson (2-6, 4.76 ERA) for the Indians and James McDonald (5-2, 2.39 ERA) for the Pirates.
