Indians Vs. Yankees: Cleveland Heads Into Game 3 Of Series Trying To Avoid Sweep

The Cleveland Indians came into their series against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium hoping to gain some ground on the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. After the first two games, they're just hoping to escape New York with a single win. After putting up only five runs in the first two games and allowing 13, the Indians have sunk to a four game losing streak.

Numbers aren't for them when it comes to game three either, as they'll be facing Andy Pettite from New York's strong rotation. The lefty hasn't been particularly fearsome this year with a 3-3 record and a 3.29 ERA, but the Indians have been putrid so far in 2012 against left handed pitching. Their winning has mostly come against righties, while they've only managed five wins all year against lefties.

Cleveland will send Ubaldo Jimenez to the hill to try and shut down the Yankees line up. Jimenez is 7-5 with a 4.59 ERA and will need to have a top performance to give the offense a fighting chance against Pettite, if this year's other results are any indication.

The game will be at Yankee Stadium at 1:05 p.m. ET.
