Indians Officially Send Scott Barnes To Triple-A, Recall Zach McAllister

Stay connected for news and updates

The Cleveland Indians made some roster moves to try and help them against the New York Yankees, but as they ride a five-game losing streak, that didn't seem to go so well for them. The Tribe brought up left-handed pitcher Scott Barnes to try and help against the lefty batters of the Yankees, sending down righty Jeanmar Gomez in the process.

That didn't work out as well as hoped. Now, the Indians are making another move, in advance of their series against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday. They're recalling pitcher Zach McAllister and sending Barnes back down, according to the official Twitter account:

As noted, McAllister is starting against the Orioles on Thursday. He's hoping to be a permanent fixture in the starting lineup after Gomez was sent down. Gomez filled that spot in the rotation but he struggled mightily, and if McAllister performs well, the spot may be his to keep. He's 1-1 with a 3.96 earned run average, and went 2-1 with a 3.17 ERA since being set down to Triple-A Columbus on May 23.
