Indians Vs. Orioles Final Score: Cleveland Loses 9-8

Friday was a rough night for the Cleveland Indians. One night after winning their first game in the last five, the Tribe kept fighting back against the Orioles, but ultimately lost by a final score of 9-8.

A lost game was hardly the most costly event on the night. Cleveland lost Lonnie Chisenhall, one of their top young players, to a broken right ulna when he was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning.

Cleveland chased Baltimore starter Jake Arrieta before he could make it through four innings. Arrieta allowed five earned runs, and the Indians took a 5-3 lead into the fifth inning. Baltimore scored one in the fifth to narrow the gap, and catcher Matt Wieters hit a three-run shot to put the Orioles on top.

The Indians tied it at 7-7 in the seventh inning, but Baltimore went back on top in the bottom of the inning. Baltimore added another in the eighth inning. Shin-Soo Choo hit a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth to cut the deficit to one run again with two outs. Jim Johnson struck out Asdrubal Cabrera to end the inning after that.

Derek Lowe's struggles continued. Baltimore scored seven runs in the five and two thirds innings that Lowe pitched. He was tagged for only four earned runs, but it was the fourth time in his last seven starts that he has allowed at least four runs.
