Lonnie Chisenhall Injury: Fractured Ulna Sends Indians 3B To Disabled List

The Cleveland Indians will be without Lonnie Chisenhall for the foreseeable future. On Friday, the 23-year-old was hit by a pitch that broke the ulna in his right arm. The team announced that he will be placed on the disabled list.

A highly-touted prospect, Chisenhall was in the lineup as the Indians designated hitter for Friday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. In the top of the fifth inning, he took a pitch from Orioles reliever Troy Patton on his right arm, near where the arm and wrist connect. He was immediately taken for X-rays. The injury was initially called a contusion.

Shelley Duncan entered the game for Chisenhall.

In 24 games this season, Chisenhall was hitting .278/.297/.458 with three home runs and nine RBIs. He made his big league debut last season, posting a .699 OPS in 66 games.
