Stay connected for news and updates

The Cleveland Indians announced a couple of roster moves before their Sunday afternoon game against the Minnesota Twins.

According to reports via Twitter, the Indians will have Matt LaPorta in the lineup at first base against the Twins while placing veteran outfielder Johnny Damon on paternity leave.

Damon's wife gave birth to twins on Friday night and was officially placed on paternity leave on Saturday, which gives a player three days off to be with his family.

LaPorta arrives from Columbus where he has split time playing left field and first base, hitting .307 with 8 doubles, 14 home runs and 32 RBI in 46 games.
