New York Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia (13-3, 3.44 ERA) returned from the disabled list and gave up one run in 7.1 innings while striking out nine in a 3-1 win over the Cleveland Indians, his former team, Friday. It was Cleveland's ninth straight loss.

Nick Swisher hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the seventh inning scoring Derek Jeter to break a 1-1 tie. Swisher also drove in New York's first run, plating Jeter on a double in the first inning.

Cody Allen (0-1, 1.23 ERA) took the loss in relief. He had not allowed a run in 12 appearances prior to the Swisher home run. Starter Cory Kluber allowed one run and struck out six in five innings.

Cleveland loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Yankees closer Rafael Soriano got Jack Hannahan to ground out to end the threat.

Hirkoki Kuroda (12-8, 2.96 ERA) starts for the Yankees tomorrow against Justin Masterson (9-11, 4.73 ERA).
