The Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox 6-4 in the final game of their three-game series Wednesday night. Cleveland got on the board first via a Russ Canzler first-inning RBI single. Chicago struck back in the bottom of the first, when Cleveland starter Justin Mastrerson walked Paul Konerko with the bases loaded. An Alex Rios sacrifice fly and A.J. Pierzynski double each scored another run, giving the Sox a 3-1 lead after the first.
The score remained 3-1 until the top of the fourth, when a Jason Kipnis single brought home Lonnie Chisenhall and Eziquiel Carrera to tie the game at three. An Alexi Ramirez double to center in the bottom of the fifth brought home Pierzynski to again give Chicago the lead, but the White Sox bullpen could not hold up. Chicago reliever Nate Jones walked home a run in the sixth to tie the game at four, and a Shin Shoo Choo grounder brought home another run in the seventh to give Cleveland the lead. A home run by Vinny Rottino in the eighth gave the Tribe an insurance run that was eventually unnecessary.
Cleveland reliever Tony Sipp was given the win, his first of the year. White Sox reliever Matt Thornton took the loss, dropping him to 4-9 on the season.

The Cleveland Indians continue their role as spoiler in the AL Central when they complete a three-game series against the division-leading Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Field.
The Tribe can win the series outright after the teams split the first two games following Cleveland's 4-3 win on Tuesday afternoon. The White Sox remain in a battle for the top spot in the AL Central against the Detroit Tigers.
The Indians expect to start right-hander Justin Masterson (11-15) on the mound against the White Sox. Masterson will try to snap a streak of three consecutive losses in his last three starts.
The White Sox are scheduled to start left-hander Hector Santiago (3-1), who will come out of the bullpen to make his third start of the season. Santiago faces the Indians with a 3.45 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 60 innings pitched so far this season.
Wednesday's game starts at 8:10 p.m. ET and will air on SportsTime Ohio.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Cleveland Indians' play-by-play man Matt Underwood and color analyst Rick Manning are the second biggest "homers" among local Major League Baseball announcers.
Underwood and Manning fell a distant second to long-time Chicago White Sox play-by-play man, Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and his partner of recent years, Steve Stone who are tops in the Majors for showing bias toward the team they cover.
The WSJ reporter Jared Diamond compiled his results after watching one home win for each of the 30 MLB teams and compiling the number of biased comments made during the broadcast to measure the level of "homerism" from the announcers. The White Sox duo led by Harrelson had 104 biased comments by game's end while the Cleveland announcers were next in line with 23 biased comments.
Manning made most of the "we" references while analyzing the Indians which makes more sense when you consider he played the first eight years of his career for the Tribe.

The Cleveland Indians beat the Chicago White Sox, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon behind the arm of starter Corey Kluber (2-4, 5.02). The Cleveland win cut the Chicago lead over Detroit in the AL Central to a half-game.
Kluber threw only 86 pitches in seven innings. The 26-year-old issued three walks and struck out four; his only two earned runs came off back-to-back solo shots from Chicago's A.J. Pierzynski and Dayan Viciedo to lead off the fifth inning.
Indians first baseman Russ Canzler opened up the scoring for the Tribe with a home run off Francisco Liriano in the second. Cleveland chased Liriano (6-12, 5.34) off the mound with two walks and two singles in the fourth that completed the Indians' scoring on the day.
Vinnie Pestano worked a scoreless eighth for the hold. Chris Perez gave up a Paul Konerko home run and two walks, but held on to notch his 37th save of the season.

The Cleveland Indians are trying to avoid a last-place finish in the AL Central. They have not ended a season on the bottom since they were in the American League Eastern Division in 1991.
Cleveland will face the White Sox on Tuesday, who are hoping to secure their spot atop the AL Central.
The Indians will send Corey Kluber to the mound. Kluber has struggled through 10 starts this year with a 5.36 ERA, but boasts an encouraging 7.87 strikeouts per nine innings.
The White Sox will counter with Francisco Liriano, who has lost just one game since coming to Chicago in late July. On the season, he has a 5.24 ERA.
Currently, the Indians trail the Minnesota Twins by one game for fourth place in the division.
Tuesday's game starts at 2:10 ET and will air on STO.
