The Indians and Royals will meet for the final time in 2012 on Sunday afternoon after splitting the first two games of the season's penultimate series. Cleveland has a three-game set at home against the White Sox remaining after this one.
Luke Hochevar will get the start for the Royals, he's gone 8-15 with a 5.43 ERA in 2012. The former No. 1 overall selection has peripherals that would probably suggest slightly better results than he's seen this year, and he's been striking out batters at a career-high rate of 6.82 per nine innings on the season. He was hit hard in his last start though, giving up a season-high 12 hits against the Tigers.
Zach McAllister will be opposing Hochevar on Sunday. The Indians rookie has compiled a 5-8 record with a 4.25 ERA in 2012. McAllister has been striking out loads of batters, but he's a very flyball-oriented pitcher who is prone to giving up home runs. This will be McAllister's final start in 2012.
The game will begin at 1:05 p.m. ET Sunday at Progressive Field. Radio coverage can be found on WTAM 1100, while television coverage is available on STO.
