The Columbus Blue Jackets are on their first winning streak of the season, after soundly defeating the Calgary Flames in their last outing on Monday 4-1 and besting the Nashville Predators in overtime on Saturday, they're riding hot. The two game streak is their only streak of the year when it comes to wins, but began the season with an eight game losing skid. Now, the Blue Jackets are looking for their sixth win of the season and their third straight. In the first and only meeting between the two teams this season, the Blue Jackets will travel to New Jersey to take on the Devils.
Last season, the two teams met, and the Devils took a 3-0 victory in Columbus - a game in which the Blue Jackets only had 13 shots. Columbus extinguished the Flames in their last outing, on the back of Jeff Carter and his two goals. Curtis Sanford turned away 27 shots and Vinny Prospal had three assists on the night, as well. Sanford is sporting a 1.46 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage in his four appearances this season. He's stopped 80 of 95 shots since stepping in for the injured Steve Mason three games ago.
New Jersey blew a three goal lead in their last outing, a loss to the Florida Panthers. The Devil had jumped to a 3-0 lead, but the Panthers ended up winning 4-3 in the end, snapping a two game winning streak for New Jersey. This will be the first time the Devils are back home in five games. It wasn't the first time this year that the Devils struggled to hold a lead - it's been a recurring theme. Center Patrik Elias has been playing well, though, with 16 points in his last 18 games. They might be without defenseman Anton Volchenkov, who is questionable with a facial laceration from Monday's game against Florida.
The game is set for 7:00 p.m. eastern and can be seen on Fox Sports Ohio.
