A matchup between one of the hottest and one of the coldest teams in the NHL turned out as you might expect, as the Columbus Blue Jackets fell 4-1 to the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night at the United Center.
Columbus, riding a four game winless streak, fell once again, while Chicago, which had lost just once since Dec. 5, won and stayed atop the Western Conference with 50 points.
Viktor Stalberg scored a pair of goals for the Blackhawks while Patrick Sharp opened the scoring for Chicago and Marian Hossa ended it. In the third period, James Wisniewski scored the lone goal of the game for the Blue Jackets, his second of the season, but Columbus was already down 3-0.
Defense continues to be the main problem for the Blue Jackets, as they have now allowed 16 goals in its previous three losses.
Columbus will aim to find a winning way when they return home to face the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night in a game scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST.
