The AHL regular season is underway and the Springfield Falcons, the affiliate of the Blue Jackets, are off to a 2-0 start.

The American Hockey League wrapped up its first weekend of regular season action and the Springfield Falcons, the minor league affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets, are off to a strong start.

The Falcons won their first two games and are currently tied for the Eastern Conference lead with four points. Springfield's quick start was aided by two players who spent significant time with the Blue Jackets last season. Ryan Johansen scored a goal in Springfield's second game while Cam Atkinson has two assists in two games. Atkinson played in 27 games for Columbus last season while Johansen scored nine goals in 67 games.

While the Blue Jackets' affiliate is off to a good start, the local team has also played well to open its season. The Lake Erie Monsters are off to a 2-1-0 start and are tied for the lead in the Western Conference with four points. Lake Erie won its season opener against Oklahoma City, before losing to the Barons the next night. The Monsters picked up their second win of the season on Sunday, shutting out Toronto 4-0.

Both teams will be back in action with two games this weekend. Complete AHL standings can be found on the league's official website.
